About ACKMA

Anorexia can't kick my appetite, better known as ACKMA, is a soon-to-be-legal non-profit organization. ACKMA was founded by a fifteen year old girl by the name of Jessica Boggess, me! I developed the urge to want to help others recover from anorexia after going through it myself, and coming out on the other side of the dark illness. After being admitted into the hospital in October of 2009 and head diving into recovery, January of 2009, I realized that I wanted other anorexia sufferers to live their life without the cloud of anorexia over them. "The goal of life is to give life a meaning". I realized that my existence in life is to help others, specifically those who struggle with anorexia.

What We Do

ACKMA's goal is to raise anorexia awareness. Many people do not realize and are very oblivious to the dangers of anorexia and what it can really do to a person. ACKMA wants to change this, by having speakers come to schools and other public places, to inform others about anorexia. The media portrays anorexia as glamorous, and ACKMA is here to prove how wrong that adjective is. ACKMA's other main goal is to use the donations raised to help those who can't afford insurance to get into an inpatient program. In the future, ACKMA plans on using the donations to start building better quality treatment centers.

What You Can Do

There are a few things that you can do to help ACKMA. Donating is one of the main things, because donations will go toward ACKMA's main goals. A less obvious thing that you can do is submit your story to the ACKMA website. If you are in recovery, it would be great to hear from you. Your story would be posted for others to see, and that will hopefully motivate others to recover as well. You can also come to ACKMA events, and buy our T-shirts and wrist bands!!
